 i4.0 - a formula for a revolution?

Ulrich Trägner is presently Head of the Chemical and Process Engineering Department at the University of Applied Sciences – Hochschule Mannheim and Managing Director of the Center of Excellence Virtual Engineering – Rhine Neckar, in cooperation with John Deere Tractor Factory in Mannheim.
Prof. Trägner holds a Master Degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Ruhr University Bochum and a Ph. D. in Environmental Engineering from the University of Illinois, U.S.A.
In depth professional experience with industry could be gathered in the R&D department of BASF Chemical Company in Ludwigshafen during the 1990th. As lead engineer in his field, he was responsible for wastewater and solids waste treatment, gas cleaning, waste and sludge incineration, heavy metals control and the optimization of upstream processes for waste minimization.
Throughout his academic and professional live, Ulrich Trägner was very interested in model development and simulation. The introduction of commercial modelling tools in academia and industries, developed into todays “all fields and all purposes”, is a temporal coincidence with his career.
The intensive cooperation with John Deere, the representative of a commercial vehicle producer, his professional experience with BASF, a global operating chemical company, and his activities in the academic world always kept Ulrich Trägner in close proximity to the “digital transformation phenomenon”.  A long term (r)evolution in all fields of private and professional life.
