6 juillet 2020The right to an explanation of automated decisions is typically described in terms of ‘providing transparency’. This is thought to render AI intelligible by disclosing the algorithms and machine learning ‘responsible for’ its output. I argue against this way of framing the very question of explainable AI before providing an alternative.
